Let it suffice to say, in the meantime, that I have always been and
continue to be fascinated by the forces that dominate this vast
universe, and, in my writing, try to be a conduit through which
this information flows, weaving the essence of ancient wisdoms and
“mind-over-matter” concepts into captivating, fun, adventuresome,
humorous, endearing stories . . . which also, as an “aside,” function
as “self-help” primers but . . . softly . . . in a sort of Sam Levinson
comedic tradition, “ . . . if you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find
one at the end of your arm!” kind of way.
Reuben’s life is a metaphor for my own, really . . . and for many
children who find themselves to be different; who find themselves
too often “on the outside looking in.” Through Reuben, I can relate
my own experiences along my pathway to personal growth and self-
discovery. It is through the struggle in our lives that we learn; that we
garner wisdom, and it is through the application of these hard-won
wisdoms that we develop power. Obstacles and challenges are nothing
more than opportunities for growth. This is the “upside” of being different.
It is a gift. It is a sign that we are chosen, as surely as some “Indiana
Jones,” to search inside ourselves and find the gifts and abilities; the
treasures buried there and. . . bring them to life.
